L&S Furniture was founded by Larry and Sue Hull in 1979, starting as a small store in Blue Ridge Summit, PA. Recognizing a demand for quality furniture in the area, they took a leap of faith and opened their business while both working full-time jobs. After a few years, they relocated within Blue Ridge Summit and eventually settled in the former Fat Boys Pizza building in Rouzerville, PA. Over the years, they expanded the space significantly, adding a two-story wing and a 2,000 sq ft warehouse. Larry and Sue were known for their welcoming approach, their friendly customer service, carrying quality furniture priced fairly, and trustworthiness. This is still something that is remembered and talked about today!

In 2010, Larry and Sue decided to retire and passed the business on to their son-in-law and daughter, Bill and Sherri Yingling. Bill began working part-time at the store before leaving his Air National Guard position to dive into entrepreneurship full-time. With the help of a dedicated employee, he later returned to the Air National Guard while still managing the store. Sherri, a full-time 6th grade teacher, pitched in whenever possible, making deliveries and working weekends. After 14 years, the couple chose to step back to enjoy weekends with their daughter, who was starting college.

Cathy, the current owner, grew up in the store, cherishing memories of helping out when she was younger by dusting and vacumming, and having family dinners after closing. She fulfilled her dream of entrepreneurship by starting a reclaimed wood home decor business, Pennkota, in Iowa in 2019. After moving back to Fairfield, PA, with her husband Chris, and son, Bennett, she was perfectly positioned to take over L&S when Bill and Sherri decided to step away. Chris, works full time in the insurance industry and you will see him on the floor selling in the evenings and on weekends and handling our delivery and repair schedule. Bennett is four, and you will see him from time to time greeting customers and collecting our trash (he’s a garbage truck lover)! You might still see Larry and Sue from time to time, helping out with their wealth of knowledge and years of experience!
